Madonna may have the
biceps of a 25-year-old bodybuilder, but she's got the birth certificate of a 51-year-old.
Last night, hours shy of turning a year older, the singer was serenaded by the audience at her controversial Warsaw, Poland
Sticky & Sweet tour stop,
reports the AP.
Concertgoers burst into the traditional Polish birthday tune "may you live a hundred years."
Today, as she officially blows out the candles on 50 -- likely in the company of a
Brazilian male model or two -- we think it's fitting to shine the spotlight on her iconic fashion sense and its unwavering influence.
Take
Lady Gaga, who might make headlines for her pants-off dance-offs, but it was Madonna who put performing in knickers on the map.
Madge's trailblazing contribution in solidifying the bustier as suitable stage wear is undeniable. The
pointy bra will forever conjure up the image of this conical wonder (above right) worn on her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990. It paved the way for Gaga to
shoot fireworks from her bust (above left).
Celebrities over the years just haven't been able to resist Xeroxing looks from Madonna's playbook and it's no wonder -- her chameleon-like ways have consistently been original, one-step ahead, and more than anything, provocative.
She spawned a world of wannabees and fellow celebrities are clearly no exception.
